چکیده

This study presents a novel method to describe the microscale phenomenon of cracks initiation based on sensitivity analysis in laminate fiber-reinforced composites. The failure composite laminates often roots fiber/matrix interfacial debonding. micro-cracking and debonding composites are difficult detect both experimentally numerically. paper shows that stress response transverse ply with respect individual interface cohesive properties follows normal distribution before initiate. sensitivities rapidly deviates from crack formation. Several realistic microstructural representations simulated validate proposed detecting initiation. prediction can be used as risk indicator increase reliability laminates’ designs.

Micromechanical Analysis of Thermal Expansion Coefficients

Thermal expansion coefficients play an important role in the design and analysis of composite structures. A detailed analysis of thermo-mechanical distortion can be performed on microscopic level of a structure. However, for a design and analysis of large structures, the knowledge of effective material properties is essential. Thus, either a theoretical prediction or a numerical estimation of t...

Development of Solution-Processable, Optically Transparent Polyimides with Ultra-Low Linear Coefficients of Thermal Expansion

This paper reviews the development of new high-temperature polymeric materials applicable to plastic substrates in image display devices with a focus on our previous results. Novel solution-processable colorless polyimides (PIs) with ultra-low linear coefficients of thermal expansion (CTE) are proposed in this paper. First, the principles of the coloration of PI films are briefly discussed, inc...

Thin films with ultra-low thermal expansion.

Ultra-low coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) is an elusive property, and narrow temperature ranges of operation and poor mechanical properties limit the use of conventional materials with low CTE. We structured a periodic micro-array of bi-metallic cells to demonstrate ultra-low effective CTE with a wide temperature range. These engineered tunable CTE thin film can be applied to minimize th...

Mechanical and Thermal Properties of Fdm Parts Manufactured with Polyamide

Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) is an Additive Manufacturing (AM) technology which is used for prototypes, single-part production and also small batch productions. For use as a final product, it is important that the parts have good mechanical properties, high dimensional accuracy and smooth surfaces. The knowledge of the mechanical properties is very important for the design engineer when it c...

Damage processes in thermoviscoelastic materials with damage-dependent thermal expansion coefficients

In this paper we prove existence of global in time weak solutions for a highly nonlinear PDE system arising in the context of damage phenomena in thermoviscoelastic materials. The main novelty of the present contribution with respect to the ones already present in the literature consists in the possibility of taking into account a damage-dependent thermal expansion coefficient. This term implie...
